MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS
Level 1 - Engagement Basics

Join this optional, four-session journey into the world of employee engagement. As a participant, you will build a strong foundation for your ongoing engagement efforts, gain a deeper understanding of the value of employee engagement, and learn how you can positively impact your engagement scores. You’ll earn a Level 1 UCI Engagement Certificate upon completion of all four sessions, which are recorded and made available for on-demand learning through the UCLC.

Title: Why Engagement Matters

What you will learn:

  • What is engagement?
  • Why does engagement matter?
  • Why is engagement important at UCI?
  • How does UCI measure engagement?
  • What is the role of the manager/supervisor in engagement?
  • Why is the relationship between manager/supervisor and employee one of the most important aspects of engagement?

Title: Measuring Engagement

What you will learn:

  • The engagement survey at UCI: structure, cadence, questions and indices, who takes the survey, what does it really measure?
  • The science behind the survey questions.
  • How to read your results if you have reported scores.
  • What to do if you don’t have any reported scores.
  • Why you should look at the big picture first.
  • You have your results – now what?

Title: Turning Survey Results into Action

What you will learn:

  • Sharing your survey results with your team
  • How to develop a team goal
  • Setting your own engagement goal as a manager/supervisor

  • Why simply talking to your employees makes a big difference
  • Simple ways to initiate meaningful conversations
  • Keeping engagement alive between surveys
